 Mr. Bahtiarian is a Vice President
at Noise Control Engineering, Inc. He joined NCE in 1994. Mr. Bahtiarian was the project manager
and lead engineer during the design and construction of the R/V SHARP, a quiet research vessel for
the University of Delaware. During this four year project Mr. Bahtiarian oversaw noise predictions,
finite element analysis, conducted shipyard inspections and coordinated a large at sea test
program. He was also greatly involved with the NOAA FRV-40 program. Mike conducted drawing reviews
and oversaw the at sea noise and vibrations surveys. Mr. Bahtiarian is also the primary engineer at
NCE with regard to industrial noise control projects. He has worked for various manufacturing
companies to quiet factory floors and reduce sound levels from the exterior of the plant. Mr.
Bahtiarian has also been called on to testify as an expert witness in Massachusetts, New
Hampshire and Vermont.
Mr. Bahtiarian started his career on the sound and vibration design team for the SEAWOLF Class
Submarine (at General Dynamics Electric Boat Division) where his main responsibility was analyzing
all noise and vibration concerns for the propulsion plant rotating equipment. Mr. Bahtiarian has
also served on product design teams of custom vibration isolation systems, shock & vibration test
equipment, non-contact instrumentation and a disk drive vibration analysis system.
Mike received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University and his M.S. from
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Bahtiarian is a Board Certified member of the Institute of
Noise Control Engineering (INCE Bd. Cert.). He is also a member of the ASME, ASA and was the past
president of the Boston Chapter of the Institute of Environmental Sciences & Technology (IEST).
