NEXT MEETING:

To be determined at necessary

As of May 13, 2009, ANSI S12.64 has been approved by a majority of the S12 Committee on Noise subject to comments. The comments that were made on the standard are available in the blue box below. These comments will be address at the WG-47 meeting in Portland listed above.

As of March 27, 2009, the end product of Working Group-47 (the underwater noise standard) has become officially the draft standard, BSR/ASA S12.64-200x "Quantities and Procedures for the Description and Measurement of Underwater Sound from Ships - Part 1: General Requirements". It has been submitted to Accredited Standards Committee S12, Noise, for approval as an American National Standard. The S12 voting period begins March 27th and closes on May 8, 2009. The ANSI public comment period also opens March 27th and closes May 11, 2009. A copy of the version of the draft standard is provided in the section below, which will also include other information regarding the standard's review process (i.e. comments, voting results, etc.) as they become available.

It is important to note, as with the standards and drafts published by ISO and ASTM and other standards developers, these documents are copyrighted. Copies of the standard that went out for comment is password protected like other sections of this standard. Copies are only available to committee members. We I must ask everyone that downloads a copy, that you not to duplicate or circulate it. Also, all the usual disclaimers apply - this is a draft and is subject to change. It may not be referred to as an American National Standard.
