Assessment of Underwater Noise From Anthropogenic sources

NCE has performed long-range acoustic assessments of many high-energy noise sources for projects around the world. These assessments require the calculation of source levels and acoustic propagation to assess the potential received noise levels and impacts to marine life. NCE’s long-range noise modeling tools are used to assess how sound propagates in deep and shallow water environments, providing our engineers with the tools to determine impact zones for common metrics of Permanent Threshold Shift, Temporary Threshold Shift, and Behavioral impacts. When required, on-site measurements are performed to establish non-activity ”baseline” noise levels as well as in-situ noise measurements and monitoring.
